Greeting

Hi Friends! Welcome back to the Sing Along with Mandy Podcast. I’m Mandy, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I love to sing songs and play fun – and sometimes silly – games and I especially love to sing and play with you.

If you or your adult would like to see the lyrics to the songs in this episode, I’ll leave a link in the show notes. You can also find a video of us recording this episode there or on our Sing Along with Mandy Podcast channel on youtube.

If you don’t know a song yet, don’t worry! Just listen and sing along when you can. Are you ready? Let’s sing!

Jig jog

I want someone to buy me a pony,

Jig jog, jig jog, jig jog gee.

Not too fat and not too boney,

Jig jog, jig jog, jig jog gee.

Oh how I want to ride

All around the country side,

With a jig jog, jig jog, jig jog,

Jig jog, jig jog, jig jog gee!

With a jig jog, jig jog, jig jog,

Jig jog, jig jog, jig jog gee!

Our next song is called Giddy Up Pony

https://www.mamalisa.com/?t=es&p=4958

Giddy up pony / trot along pony

Giddy up pony, ride to town

Giddy up pony don’t fall down!

REPEAT

That is how Joe, my husband learned the rhyme. I’ll say it again this time with the way we learned from my brother-in-law, John!

Trot a long, horsey, Trot to town

Trot a long horsey, don’t fall down!

Isn’t that neat how there are different versions of the same song? Joe grew up in Alabama and John grew up in Kentucky.  We learn different versions from our family and our communities. Maybe you know a different version of a song that I sing – or maybe your adult can tell you a version they learned as a child. I’d love to hear your version. I’ll leave links for your adult to contact me in the show notes.

Our next song comes to us today from my friends, Andy and Suzanna. They live and perform for children in New York City and this summer they started sharing their songs and humor online ffor us all!

Carousel Horse – Andy and Suzanna

Yankee doodle
Yankee Doodle went to town

A-riding on a pony

He stuck a feather in his hat

And called it macaroni

Chorus:

Yankee Doodle, keep it up

Yankee Doodle dandy

Mind the music and the step

and with the girls be handy!

Father and I went down to camp

Along with Captain Gooding

And there we saw the men and boys

As thick as hasty pudding.

Boom Boom Ain’t it Great to be Crazy

A horse and a flea and three blind mice

Sat on a curbstone shooting dice

The horse he slipped and fell on the flea

“Whoops,” said the flea, “There’s a horse on me!”

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Giddy and foolish the whole day through

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Way down South where bananas grow

A flea stepped on an elephant’s toe

The elephant cried, with tears in his eyes

“Why don’t you pick on someone your own size?”

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Giddy and foolish the whole day through

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Way up North where there’s ice and snow

There lived a penguin and his name was Joe

He got so tired of black and white

He wore pink slacks to the dance last night!

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Giddy and foolish the whole day through

Boom, boom, ain’t it great to be crazy?

Mocking bird (horse and cart)

Hush, little baby don’t you

Hush, little baby don’t say a word

Papa’s gonna buy you a mocking bird

And if that mocking bird don’t sing

Papa’s gonna buy you a diamond ring

And if that diamond ring is brass

Papa’s gonna buy you a looking glass

And if that looking glass gets broke

Papa’s gonna buy you a billy goat

And if that billy goat don’t pull

Papa’s gonna buy you a cart and bull

And if that cart and bull turn over

Papa’s gonna buy you a dog called Rover

And if that dog called Rover don’t bark

Papa’s gonna buy you a horse and cart

And if that horse and cart turn round

You’ll still be the sweetest little babe in town (be the sweetest litte babe)

Still be the sweetest little babe in town
