Hello hello hello

This episode is full of songs and poems about dance. Get your hands and feet ready!

Greeting

Hi Friends! Welcome back to the Sing Along with Mandy Podcast. I’m Mandy, and I’m so glad you’re here.

I love to sing songs and play fun – and sometimes silly – games and I especially love to sing and play with you.

If you or your adult would like to see the lyrics to the songs in this episode, I’ll leave a link in the show notes.  If you don’t know a song yet, don’t worry! Just listen and sing along when you can. Are you ready? Let’s sing!

Looby Loo

CHORUS:

Here we go looby loo. Here we go looby light.

Here we go looby loo all on a Saturday night.

I put my right hand in, I put my right hand out.

I give my hand a shake, shake, shake and turn myself about.

Chorus

I put my left hand in…

I put my right foot in…

I put my left foot in…

We put our whole self in…

There came an old woman from France – Mother Goose

There came an old woman from France

Who taught grown-up children to dance;

But they were so stiff,

She sent them home in a sniff,

This sprightly old woman from France.

There was an Old Lady of France by Edward Lear

There was an Old Lady of France,

Who taught little ducklings to dance;

When she said, ‘Tick-a-tack!’ – they only said, ‘Quack!’

Which grieved that Old Lady of France.

Grown ups, I can make your child his or her own sing along with his favorite songs or based on something she loves like teddy bears or trains or baby dolls or bath time. Let me know if you want me to make one for you – you can get the details and contact me at nowtakeoff.com/gift.

Dance little baby, dance up high

Dance, little baby, dance up high,

Never mind, baby, mother is nigh;

Crow and caper, caper and crow,

There, little baby, there you go.

Up to the ceiling, down to the ground,

Backwards and forwards, round and round;

So dance, little baby, and mother will sing,

With a merry coral and tingle-ting-ting.**

Rhythm repeat

Let’s play our Rhythm Repeat game! First, let’s warm up our hands with a drumroll. Use you hands to slap your thighs! (drumroll)

Can you clap your hands? (clap) Can you snap your fingers? (snap) Can you slap your knees? (Slap) I call this next game Rhythm Repeat. It’s very easy.

I’m going to say some very silly words and then you repeat them. You can clap, snap and slap along too!

My turn, your turn, 8 rounds

Rig a Jig

As I was walking

Down the street

Down the street

Down the street,

*A friend of mine

I happened to meet*

Hi ho, hi ho, hi ho!

A rig a jig jig

And away we go,

Away we go,

Away we go!

A rig a jig jig

And away we go,

Hi ho, hi ho, hi ho!

We first sang this next song on our space and moon episode. It’s called Buffalo Gals and it’s the same tune as the Rig a Jig.

Buffalo Gals

Buffalo gals, won’t you come out tonight?

Come out tonight,

Come out tonight?

Buffalo gals, won’t you come out tonight,

And dance by the light of the moon?

Come Dance a Jig to My Granny’s Pig

Come dance a jig

To my Granny’s pig,

With a raudy, rowdy, dowdy;

Come dance a jig

To my Granny’s pig,

And pussy-cat shall crowdy.
