Greeting
Hi Friends! Welcome back to the Sing Along with Mandy Podcast. I’m Mandy, and I’m so glad you’re here.
I love to sing songs and play fun – and sometimes silly – games and I especially love to sing and play with you.
If you or your adult would like to see the lyrics to the songs in this episode, I’ll leave a link in the show notes. If you don’t know a song yet, don’t worry! Just listen and sing along when you can. Are you ready? Let’s sing!

Who me?
Yes you!
Couldn’t be!
Then who?
___ stole the cookie from the cookie jar!
Continue, naming everyone in the car.

La la la la, named person sways their arms in their seat
La la la la
La la, la la la la la la!
Continue, naming everyone in the car.
Grown ups, if you like what you hear, will you help me reach more little listeners? I would be so grateful if you would you share a video or picture of your kids singing along or you can even take a screenshot of the podcast. Be sure to tag me in it so I can say hi! I’m at the @singalongpodcast on IG and FB and @PodcastSing on Twitter.
The other day I met a bear
The other day (repeat), I met a bear (repeat),
A great big bear (repeat), Oh way out there (repeat).
Chorus: (Same lines in unison)
He said to me, “Why don’t you run?
I see you ain’t, Got any gun.”
And so I ran, Away from there,
But right behind me, Was that bear.
In front of me, There was a tree,
A great big tree, Oh glory be!
The lowest branch, Was ten feet up,
So I thought I’d jump, And trust my luck.
And so I jumped, Into the air,
But I missed that branch, A way up there.
Now don’t you fret, And don’t you frown,
I Caught that branch, On the way back down!
This is the end, There aint no more,
Unless I see, That bear once more.

If you love bears or have a special teddy bear, you’re going to love episode 34 coming out in January!
Rhythm repeat
Let’s play our Rhythm Repeat game! First, let’s warm up our hands with a drumroll. Use you hands to slap your thighs! (drumroll)
Can you clap your hands? (clap) Can you snap your fingers? (snap) Can you slap your knees? (Slap) I call this next game Rhythm Repeat. It’s very easy.
I’m going to say some very silly words and then you repeat them. You can clap, snap and slap along too!
My turn, your turn, 8 rounds]
Our next song is super fun to sing in the car – as long as the driver knows what’s coming! We’ll sing the song song several times – each verse getting quieter and quieter before we blast the fellow’s name –
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt
John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt
His name is my name, too
Whenever we go out
The people always shout
There goes John Jacob Jingleheimer Schmidt
Da-da-da-da-da
Our next song is from episode 21 called How Shall We Get There? It’s sung to the tune of Down on Grandpa’s Farm, but we changed the words to Down in Grandpa’s Garage. Everyone in the car can take a turn naming a vehicle or machine you see out the window!
Down in Grandpa’s Garage
We’re on our way,
We’re on our way
On our way to Grandpa’s garage.
We’re on our way,
We’re on our way
On our way to Grandpa’s garage.
Down in Grandpa’s garage
There is a little red corvette…
The car, it makes a sound like this:
“Beep, beep!”
Down in Grandpa’s garage
There is a big blue truck…
The truck, it makes a sound like this:
“Vrrrrm vrmmm!”
Down in Grandpa’s garage
There is a big yellow school bus…
The truck, it makes a sound like this:
“HONK HONK!”
Down in Grandpa’s garage
There is a really loud hotrod…
The hotrod, it makes a sound like this:
“Vrrrrmrmmm!”
Grown ups, I can make your child his or her own sing along with his favorite songs or based on something she loves like teddy bears or trains or baby dolls or bath time. Let me know if you want me to make one for you – you can get the details and contact me at nowtakeoff.com/gift.
Before I get to our last song today, here are a few games you can play and adjust based on the ages of the kids in your car.
You can play Category, where someone suggests and theme or category and everyone takes turns naming things. For example, I could say: pets! And then someone might say cats, dogs, tadpoles, unicorns.
You can play Sing a Song, where someone suggests a theme and everyone tries to sing a song with that word in it. For example, you could say ‘Dogs’ and sing Oh Whose is that Doggie in the Window or There was a farmer had a dog… if you want more examples, you can check out any of the themes of the Sing Along with Mandy Podcast like trains or colors or numbers or cats!
You can also play I Spy where you look out the car window or in the vehicle and find something that everyone in the car can see. Then name it’s color with this rhyme: “I spy with my little eye something…”. If the thing you chose is the sky, you can say… “I spy with my little eye something… BLUE!” And then let everyone guess what you saw.
You can also look for letters on signs and license plates and spell people’s names in the car! Or, everyone in your car can get a few single digit numbers to look for and whoever finds their numbers first, wins!
Our last song is called a cumulative song – each verse grows upon the last one. It’s called There’s a hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a Hole in the Middle of the Sea
There’s a hole in the middle of the sea.
There’s a hole in the middle of the sea.
There’s a hole, There’s a hole.
There’s a hole in the middle of the sea.
There’s a log in the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a log in the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a log, there’s a log
There’s a log in the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a bump on the log in the hole in the bottom of the sea
There’s a bump on the log in the hole in the bottom of the sea
There’s a bump, there’s a bump
There’s a bump on the log in the hole in the bottom of the sea
There’s a frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a frog, there’s a frog
There’s a frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a fly, there’s a fly
There’s a fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a flea, there’s a flea
There’s a flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a hair on the flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a hair on the flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s a hair, there’s a hair,
There’s a hair on the flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s an elephant on the hair on the flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There’s an elephant on the hair on the flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea
There‘s an elephant, there’s an elephant,
There’s an elephant on the hair on the flea on the fly on the frog on the bump on the log
In the hole in the middle of the sea!
You could keep going with that song forever!
