This transcript is for the Sing Along with Mandy Podcast show, “Bath Time”. You can listen to the entire episode here!
Hello hello hello
Splish splish splash splash, how I love to take a bath! When you take a bath, do you like lots of bubble or no bubbles? Do you have a favorite bath toy? I just love to take a bath. When I was little I really loved to lie down and let my hair float in the water and pretend I was a mermaid. Today’s songs are all wonderful for singing at bath time.
Greeting
Hi Friends! Welcome back to the Sing Along with Mandy Podcast. I’m Mandy, and I’m so glad you’re here.
I love to sing songs and play fun – and sometimes silly – games and I especially love to sing and play with you.
If you or your adult would like to see the lyrics to the songs in this episode, I’ll leave a link in the show notes. If you don’t know a song yet, don’t worry! Just listen and sing along when you can. Are you ready? Let’s sing!
Rub a dub dub
Rub-a-dub-dub,
Three men in a tub,
And who do you think they be?
The butcher, the baker, the candlestick maker,
And all of them out to sea.
When I take a bath, I like to get all the scrubbing and cleaning done first so I can play play play. Let’s sing a song about getting clean. It’s to the tune of Here we go round the Mulberry Bush.
This is the way we take a bath
This is the way we take a bath, take a bath, take a bath.
This is the way we take a bath… let’s get clean!
This is the way we fill the tub
This is the way we shampoo our hair
This is the way we rinse our hair
This is the way we wash our skin
This is the way we rinse our skin
This is the way we scrub our toes
This is the way we take a bath… let’s get clean!
If your knees got extra muddy today when you played outside, you could sing about scrubbing your knees. Or if your hands got super colorful while you were painting or drawing with chalk, you could sing about scrubbing your fingers! Your adult can just pause the episode and or you can keep scrubbing and say this next rhyme with me. It’s about a baby who tried to eat the bathtub!
Miss Lucy had a Baby
Miss Lucy had a baby
His name was Tiny Tim
She put him in the bathtub
To see if he could swim.
He drank up all the water.
He ate up all the soap.
He tried to eat the bathtub
But it wouldn’t go down his throat.
Miss Lucy called the doctor.
Miss Lucy called the nurse.
Miss Lucy called the lady
With the alligator purse.
“Mumps!” Said the doctor
“Measles!” said the Nurse
“Nothing!” said the lady with the alligator purse
Miss Lucy punched the doctor.
Miss Lucy knocked the nurse.
Miss Lucy kissed the lady
With the alligator purse.

If you like that song, you can sing it with me again in our next show – Episode 27 is going to be all about ouchies and boo boos and visiting the doctor!
But for now, let’s get back to our bath. Do you have something that you can fill with water and pour it out? Maybe a toy or a cup or a bottle? Let’s sing I’m a little teapot! And pour water into the tub!
I’m a little teapot
I’m a little teapot
Short and stout
Here is my handle
Here is my spout
When I get all steamed up
Hear me shout
Tip me over and pour me out!
I’m a very special teapot
Yes, it’s true
Here’s an example of what I can do
I can turn my handle into a spout
Tip me over and pour me out!
Rhythm repeat
Let’s play our Rhythm Repeat game! First, let’s warm up our hands with a drumroll. Use you hands to slap your thighs! (drumroll)
Can you clap your hands? (clap) Can you snap your fingers? (snap) Can you slap your knees? (Slap) I call this next game Rhythm Repeat. It’s very easy.
I’m going to say some very silly words and then you repeat them. You can clap, snap and slap along too!
My turn, your turn, 8 rounds]
If you like what you hear, would you take a video or picture or a screenshot and share it? Be sure to tag me in it so I can say hi! I’m at the @singalongpodcast on Instagram and Facebook and @PodcastSing on Twitter.

Down by the bay,
Where the watermelons grow,
Back to my home,
I dare not go,
For if I do,
My mother will say:
Did you ever see a bear combing his hair?
Down by the bay
Repeat with:
Did you ever see a bee with a sun-burned knee?
Did you ever see a moose kissing a goose?
Did you ever see a whale with a polka dot tail?
Did you ever see a fish sailing in a dish?
Did you ever see a cat in a tall black hat?
“Did you ever see a fly wearing a tie?”
“Did you ever see a snake eating some cake?”
“Did you ever see some llamas eating their pajamas?”
How about this one – Did you ever do some math while taking a bath?
Did you ever do some math while taking a bath? That is so silly. But… it reminds me of a fun game. If you have five small bath toys, now is the time to get them. If not, you can pretend and have just as much fun.
Take your five bath toys and line them up on the edge of your bathtub. If you’re in the car or don’t have bath toys right now, you can pretend you’ve lined up five frogs on our arm. Let’s count them. 1, 2, 3, 4, 5. Wonderful!
Now, as we sing this next song, you can drop 1 frog or toy with each verse into the water. You’ll see as we sing!
Five Green and Speckled Frogs
Five green and speckled frogs
Sat on a speckled log
Eating the most delicious bugs (yum yum)
One jumped into the pool
Where it was nice and cool
Then there were four green speckled frogs. (glup glup)
The final verse ends “Then there were no green speckled frogs.”
If you like these counting and singing games – which are really great for bath time play – check out episode 13: Numbers Numbers Numbers!
Let’s pretend our bathtub is a boat. Our next song is Row Row Row Your Boat. We sang this in Episode #2 – the show called Water Water Everywhere. If you’re sitting in the car, you can put your hands out like your holding the oars and pulllll them back to you! If you’re in the bath, you can pretend you’re sitting in a row boat and you’re the captain of the ship!
Row, Row, Row Your Boat
Row, row, row your boat
Gently down the stream
Merrily merrily, merrily, merrily
Life is but a dream
Repeat
